Android Academy

– participant’s outlook

What are your impressions after the Academy?

I am very satisfied with the Academy. The coolest thing was the opportunity to participate in the project from the very beginning, meaning that the project didn’t exist, and we created it from scratch. This gave me a greater sense of responsibility for our end product compared to joining a project halfway through. During the Academy, I learned a lot, starting from the lectures and then applying the knowledge to tasks. I think I learned the most while working on the tasks.

Did the Academy meet your expectations?

Yes, it was exactly how I imagined it would be. I’m referring to the initial lectures with the seniors and then working on the tasks. I’m glad that topics such as architecture and clean code principles were covered as they were the most important to me.

What was the biggest challenge for you during the Academy?

The biggest challenge was definitely finding the time because balancing full-time work, completing my master’s thesis, and doing the Academy tasks was quite demanding in terms of time management.

What was the biggest advantage of the Academy?

The biggest advantage was having contact with Marcin and Przemek and the opportunity to ask them questions. When you’re self-learning or taking online courses, you don’t have direct access to someone who can guide you and provide helpful insights.

Have you noticed progress in your Android skills?

Definitely, yes. I mainly focused on tasks related to Firebase during the project, and I feel that my knowledge in that area has expanded.

Do you think the Academy will help you in finding a job in the Android technology field?

I already think it has helped to some extent because in my current job, I got the opportunity to change my job position from manual testing to an Android Developer. I received my first tasks towards the end of the Academy.

Would you recommend the Academy to others? Why?

I would recommend it, but to people who have the time and are willing to fully engage in the project. When many people are actively involved, there is greater motivation for the entire group. Everyone drives each other, and that’s when the project turns out even better than it did for us.
